Cambridge Times CAMBRIDGE-The Scorpions under-16 girls’ volleyball team had already won the three medals this season and added another with a gold medal in Niagara.
The Scorpions defeated the Hamilton Smash 15U 2-0 (25-11, 25-12), lost to Oakville Thunder White 16U 2-0 (14-25, 22-25), and then got on a roll by stinging the Oakville Thunder White 15U 2-0 (25-6, 25-16) and the Burlington Blaze 2-0 (25-20, 25-12).
In the semis, the Scorpions defeated the Waterdown Raiders 2-0 (25-21, 25-16) and the beat the Oakville Thunder White 16 U 2-0 (25-19, 25-23) in the final.
CAMBRIDGE TIMES - The Scorpions under-14 girls’ competitive volleyball team earned a promotion to the Championship Division of the Ontario Volleyball Association after never losing a set and winning their second gold medal of the season in the Trillium Division at a tournament held recently at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School.
In pool play, the Scorpions defeated the under-14 Chatham Ballhawks (25-9, 25-9), the under-13 Chatham BallHawks (25-7, 25-12) and Waterloo Tigers Red (25-4, 25-14).
In the playoffs, the Scorpions defeated Waterloo Tigers White (25-5, 25-8) in the quarter-finals and dropped Waterloo Red again (25-17, 25-13) in the semis. In the finals they defeated London’s Forest City Blue (25-10, 25-20). The Scorpions are: Emily Aitken, Jessica Ball, Brianne
Cambridge Times - KITCHENER - The season is only half over and the Scorpions under-16 girls’ team has won their third medal of the volleyball season - a silver, at Forest Heights Collegiate Institute.
The Scorpions opened up the day slowly, losing to Mountain Volleyball Club (MVA) under-15 in three sets, but returned to their winning ways by crushing the Kitchener/Waterloo Predators (25-12, 25-19) and Waterloo Tigers (25-16, 25-16).
The Scorpions then defeated the Predators again in the semifinals (25-11, 25-17), before losing a heartbreaker in the third set to the MVC under-16 team (16-25, 25-20, 7-15).
