The Scorpions Volleyball Club is very proud to announce that former University of Waterloo varsity women's volleyball team player Kayla Wierts will be an assistant coach for the Scorpions 16U Green team for the 2018-19 indoor season.
Kayla played 5 years for the University of Waterloo achieving an amazing Academic All-Canadian status each year there.

The Scorpions are very proud to announce that Lisa James will be coaching our 14U boys competitive team for the 2018-19 fall and indoor season.
Lisa has an extensive coaching record. She as coached at the club, high school and university level. Her coaching and playing experience spans 20 years. She still plays competitive elite indoor and beach volleyball. To see her extensive biography CLICK HERE.
James Evans, currently on leave from the club, is anticipated to return in January to coach with Lisa.

The Scorpions are looking for more boys to come out to their Get Ready for Tryouts Camp and Competitive Team Tryouts in September. We are looking for boys with potential so please bring them out. Here is the link to the tryouts and camp for boys and girls.
It takes a lot of work to run the Scorpions Youth Volleyball. The club is busy year round with indoor and beach non competitive and competitive programs. Thankfully the Scorpions volunteer board members are up to the challenge.

The Scorpions Volleyball Club is very proud to announce that Megan DeMille will be the head coach of the Scorpions 16U Gold competitive girls team for the 2018-19 indoor season.
Megan have over 20 years experience playing competitive volleyball. She currently plays in elite indoor and beach adult league. Megan est professeur de français dans la région de waterloo. She has been and continues to be a volleyball coach in the schools where she teaches. She is also a well respected rugby player.
Paul Langan, founder Scorpions Volleyball Club states, "When interviewing Megan I knew she would be perfect coaching for us. Her blend of coaching and playing experience is what we were looking for. Assistant Coach Jessna Marmo has a strong technical knowledge of the game. Megan and Jessna together will make a fantastic coaching combination this season."

The Oldest 12U/11U Volleyball Tournament in Ontario
The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club, Cambridge, ON, is proud to announce their 8th annual series of 12U, 11U Volleyball tournaments for girls and boys.
WireService.ca Press Release (08/10/2018) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is hosting the 8th annual series of tournaments for 12U and 11U girls and boys teams.
The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club currently has over 500 indoor players. Their 12U/11U tournament series is the longest running in Ontario.
Paul Langan, President of Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. states, "We are proud to be offering for the 8th year a series of tournaments for younger volleyball players. The atmosphere is fantastic at these tournaments. I am extremely proud of how this tournament series continues to grow in popularity."

The tournament is open to any teams in Ontario and they do not have to be registered with Ontario Volleyball Association to participate. All tournaments will be held in Cambridge, Ontario.

The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club, is the largest indoor and beach volleyball club in the Waterloo Region Guelph, Brantford, Woodstock and surrounding area. They are pleased to announce their tryout schedule for the upcoming indoor competitive season.

The tryouts are free. To avoid the long lineups it is strongly recommended you preregister for the tryouts.

If your son or daughter wants to play on any competitive team, eg: our White teams in the Southwest Volleyball League or our Green and Gold in the Ontario Volleyball Association please come to the tryouts.
For our younger ages,(11,12,13, 14U) we are looking for potential in the player, so please do bring them out.
NOTE: The Scorpions will also host a Get Ready for Tryouts Camp the week before so players can get prepared for Tryouts. Our coaches will be there to train the players. There are two 1.5hr/2hr sessions on Saturday September 15 and 16th at Monsignor Doyle School. Registration is $20.00 and we will announce soon when the online registration begins for the Camp.

John Forman and Bernadine Verstraeten Return to Coach the Scorpions Developmental Volleyball Program
The Scorpions Volleyball Club are proud to announce that John Forman and Bernadine Verstraeten have been hired to run their Scorpions 1 & 2 Volleyball Youth Developmental Program for boys and girls Grades 5-8.
WireService.ca Press Release (08/06/2018) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club based out of Cambridge, Ontario and are the largest indoor and beach volleyball club in the Waterloo Region and Guelph.
The club recently celebrated their 8th year anniversary.
The club has refocused their energy on their developmental programs. They offer programs for boys and girls from Grade 2-12.
John Forman will be responsible for the Scorpions 1 program for Grades 5 and 6. Bernadine Verstraeten will be responsible for the Scorpions 2 program for Grades 7 and 8. The Scorpions 3 developmental program coordinator for high school age youth will be filled in the near future.

Our future success of the club depends on having strong developmental programs. John and Bernadine have a proven track record of success in training our young athletes."

It is with great excitement that we announce that former Scorpion and 4 year Mohawk College Varsity player Jessna Marmo has accepted the position of Assistant Coach for the Scorpions 16U Gold Team.
Jessna has played competitive indoor and beach volleyball for the Scorpions before attending Mohawk College and playing for their women's team. Jessna graduated from Mohawk in their Advanced Biotechnology Engineering Program.
Matthew Schnarr, Head Coach of the Mohawk College Women's team, “Jessna was the ultimate teammate in her time at Mohawk. An athlete of few words as she let her effort in practice and matches do the talking. Jessna NEVER took a night off and would run through the wall if it meant keeping the ball alive."

The Ontario Volleyball Association has chosen the Scorpions Learn to Play Program that focuses on utilizing parents and players on the court as the standard across the province to use.
The Scorpions program was developed 7 years ago as a response to have so many kids on the court there needed to be a way the kids were getting enough touches on the ball. Having parents on the court with their kids has now become the standard program used indoor and outdoor for the grades 2-4 participants.
Paul Langan, Founder Scorpions Volleyball Club states, "I am glad our provincial volleyball association now realizes the importance of having parents on the court when their child is first learning volleyball. There are just so many positives that come out of this method of learning volleyball"
