PR: Scorpions Hire John Forman and Bernadine Verstraeten Developmental Volleyball Program Coordinators

The Scorpions Volleyball Club are proud to announce that John Forman and Bernadine Verstraeten have been hired to run their Grades 5-8 Atomic Volleyball Youth Developmental Program.

WireService.ca Press Release (07/15/2015) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club based out of Cambridge, Ontario is one of only 5 volleyball clubs in Canada accredited by Volleyball Canada.

The club recently celebrated their fifth year anniversary. They had 500 youth in their indoor program and 350 in their beach volleyball programs in 2015.

The club has refocused their energy on their developmental programs. They offer programs for boys and girls from Grade 2-12.

The club uses only Volleyball Canada approved training programs and follows their Development Model.

John Forman will be responsible for the Atomic Volleyball 1 program for Grades 5 and 6.

Bernadine Verstraeten will be responsible for the Atomic Volleyball 2 program for Grades 7 and 8.

Paul Langan, Founder of Scorpions Volleyball Club states," Together John and Bernadine have over 40 years combined experience in coaching youth volleyball and as school teachers. It is critical to the continuing success of the club that we refocus our energy on improving our youth development program. John and Bernadine provide the excitement and experience our Atomic Volleyball Program needs."

Registration has begun for the Scorpions fall and winter programs. All programs are for boys and girls Grade 2 -12. The registration costs for the programs are less than $100.

  • 15 years of coaching competitive club volleyball in Cambridge and Peel Region
  • 2 years Head coach Region 3's ADP summer program
  • 1 year Assistant Coach Provincial "B" Team
  • 6 years Assistant Coach Women's program University of Guelph women's program
  • 17 years Head Coach Madawaska Volleyball Camp
  • 10 years Grade 7/8 Intermediate Volleyball Coach
  • 20 years of Primary, Junior, and Intermediate school teaching experience

Bernadine Verstraeten


  • NCCP Certified Level 2 Volleyball Coach
  • 24 years Woodland volleyball and track and field coach
  • 24 years Woodland High school teaching experience
  • 2015 OFSAA Gold Senior Boy's Volleyball Assistant Coach

The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is proud to announce their expanded 2015/16 Fall and Winter Youth Volleyball Programs for the youth of Cambridge, Ontario and surrounding area.



WireService.ca Press Release (07/06/2015) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club are pleased to provide the details of their 2015 Fall and 2016 Winter Youth Indoor Volleyball Programs.

The Scorpions Volleyball Club, one of only five volleyball clubs accredited by Volleyball Canada, have redefined and expanded their developmental and house league programs for the upcoming season.

The Scorpions estimate five hundred youth will be involved in their various indoor programs this season..

  The programs are for boys and girls born from 2008-1998. The program has changed to:

  • Add a program for boys and girls that starts earlier in Grade 2 based on the Volleyball Canada Development Model.
  • Re-align the program to meet the intent of the Long Term Athlete Development Model including the addition of Circulation - Mini Volleyball and Atomic Volleyball.

Paul Langan, founder of Scorpions Volleyball Club states," It was time to revamp our Developmental programs to ensure they meet the standards set out by Volleyball Canada. We are proud to be an Accredited Club by Volleyball Canada and we will continue to improve the quality of the volleyball programs we deliver."

The Scorpions developmental program costs $75.00 per child. The winter house league program costs $95. This is one of the most affordable sport activities in the city.
