The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is very proud to announce that Syree Tucker is one of the recipients of the Scorpions Academic Excellence Bursary Award for 2021. The bursary is given to Scorpions 18U players that, because of achieving over 85% in their final year, have won a Scorpions Academic Excellence Bursary of $500. They must have been accepted to and weill be attending a post secondary institution in the fall 2021. Syree has been in the Scorpions competitive indoor program for 3 years. She also played in the Scorpions beach program and is a member of Team Ontario Beach. Academically, Syree just completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a 90.29 percent at St John's Kilmarnock School in Higher Level IB Biology, Chemistry and French studies. Next year Syree will be studying LIfe Sciences at Brandon University, Manitoba. Syree is hoping to pursue a medical degree. Syree Tucker will also play varsity volleyball with the Brandon University Bobcats. Scorpions Volleyball Club Celebrates 10 years of Youth Beach VolleyballThe Scorpions Volleyball Club is proud to announce their youth beach volleyball program at the beautiful Shade's Mills Conservation Area in Cambridge. The club is celebrating their 10th year of providing youth beach volleyball for boys and girls. The program starts the week of May 24th, 2021. It is a very fluid situation. We were able to offer programs this past summer and fall and are hopeful we can run a program in the Winter. We will follow whatever protocols are required in the Waterloo Region. It is possible we will not be able to run the program. A shortage of gyms remain an issue. Here are the tentative plans for the Winter Programs in Ayr and Cambridge. Registration starts January 15th, 2021. Program begins first week of February 2021. Cost is $125.00 for 9 weeks. The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is the largest indoor and beach volleyball club in the Waterloo Region and surrounding area. In the fall 2019 they started up up youth volleyball programs in Ayr. There was a 200% increase in enrollment in 2020. The co-ed program in Ayr will be 9 weeks long on SATURDAYS starting October 17th and ending December 12th, 2020. Scorpions Coach and former University of Waterloo player Renee Michiels will help run the program. Here are the details of the program: 1. Claire Chambers, who have been on the board for several years has stepped down from the Registrar role she shared with Rose Lapierre to concentrate more on her job.
Tracy Forshaw has agreed to return to the board in her role of Grants/Sponsorship Coordinator. Tina Castelli will now take on the Registrar role.
