 The Scorpions Empress Girls 16U Team entered the Ontario Volleyball Association ranked 12th in Division 3. The team wanted to prove the ranking was not representative of their team. The team ended up with a SILVER medal and moving up 10 spots in the rankings! The Empress fought hard over the three day tournament.
On Friday they defeated the Niagara Rapids 22-25,25-19,15-10 and the Cornwwall Vikings 19-25,25-20,15-5. Their only loss came to the Toronto Diamonds 25-20, 16-25, 8-15. On Saturday, the Empress won all three matches. They defeated the Lombardy Airforce 25-7,25-8. Wiboke E381 25-14, 25-14 and the Belleville Ravens 25-16, 21-25, 15-12. On Sunday, each game is do or die and the Empress came to play. Scorpions defeated Markam Stingers 25-2. 25-11, Toronto Galaxy Vortex 225-23, 25-15. In the semi finals they defeated the London LVC Fire 25-15, 25-19. This set up the gold medal show down with the Toronto Diamonds in which they lost 25-22,25-22 winning them the Silver medal. The Scorpions 16U Empress are: Cheyenne Verstraeten,Tara Omand,Natasha Marchildon,Sydney Beechey,Elyssa Trotter, Maya Warchalowski,Sonya Wideman,Bronte McCracken,Taylor French,Mya Tostik. Coaches are Bernadine Verstraeten and Susanna Meteer.
