![]() The Scorpions 16U girls competitive volleyball team won a Tier 1 Division II Bronze Medal at the recent 3 day provincial championships held in Waterloo. WireService.ca Press Release (03/31/2014) - Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club are pleased to announce their 16U Girls team have received a Bronze medal at the provincial championships. The team was ranked 11th out of 32 teams in Division II coming into the tournament. The gruelling three day tournament started on Friday with Scorpions winning 2 of three matches to capture 1st place in their pool beating out the Waterdown Raiders, Niagara Fury and the Phoenix. Day two saw the usually consistent Scorpions team falter in all three matches against the Niagara Rapids, Etobicoke E381 and Mountain Volleyball Club. On day three the Scorpions came ready to play. They beat the Burlington Blaze in a tough three set battle. 12-25, 25-21, 15-7. In the quarter finals the Scorpions defeated the Oakville Thunder 28-26, 25-13. In the semis the Scorpions came up short against Etobicoke in a two set loss. The Scorpions regrouped for the Bronze medal game defeating the #1 ranked team in their division the London LVC Fury decisively 25-9. 25-12. Highlights of the game featured Scorpion Claire Gagne winning 10 points on in a row with excellent serving. Congrats to Coach Vaughan for getting the girls prepared for these provincials and for the girls who played hard over those three days to bring a provincial bronze medal to the club." ![]() Cambridge Times West Seneca, N.Y. - The Under-16 Scorpions girls’ competitive volleyball team continued their winning ways, grabbing a silver medal at a tournament in West Seneca, N.Y. The Scorpions defeated Buffalo VA 25-11, 25-14, Hotshots VC 25-8, 25-10, Niagara Red 25-15, 25-12 and Mercy VC 25-11, 25-17. They then defeated Niagara Frontier Blue 25-22, 25-16 in the semifinals, but in the finals they lost a nail-biter to Niagara Frontier 3, 25-27, 25-23, 13-15. ![]() Cambridge Times The Scorpions under-13 girls’ volleyball team arrived in London undefeated in the Ontario Volleyball Association Tournament season. The team hadn’t lost a set all season and the Scorpions continued their winning ways with their third gold medal performance, again without losing a set. In pool play, the Scorpions beat Guelph, Waterloo and Predators 12U. The Scorpions opened with two-set victories over the Finger Lakes Wilcats and Whirlwind VC. The Scorpions split a two-set game with Onondaga, before beating Crystal City 1 and 2. The Scorpions then beat Blast VC to advance to the semifinals, where they took down Whirlwind VC again, and defeated Onondaga in straight sets in the finals. |
