Press Release: Scorpion's Kelsey Caza and Amy Cureton selected to the Ontario High Performance Volleyball Camp

The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is pleased to announce that Kelsey Caza and Amy Cureton have been named to attend the Ontario High Performance Camp.

 WireService.ca Press Release (06/16/2015) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. from Cambridge Ontario has over one thousand youth in their beach and indoor programs. It is estimated that the Scorpions Club will have approximately five hundred youth in their indoor programs in the fall.

18U Kelsey Caza and 17U Amy Cureton, who both play the middle position, were picked to attend the High Speed Performance Camp after a successful tryout held May 30th at Durham College.



The High Performance Camp (HPC) will consist of approximately 48 athletes per gender/age training from June 27th-July 1st, 2015 at Nipissing University. Athletes will develop both physically from intensive on-court training, and mentally through scheduled classroom sessions covering the various aspects of what it takes to be a high performance athlete in volleyball.

24 athletes from the HPC and will be picked to represent Team Ontario and attend their training camp at Brock University starting July 1st.

Janet Cobbs-Mulholland, 18U Scorpions coach states, “Kelsey is a valuable asset not only to the Scorpions Volleyball Club an‎d will be to the University of Waterloo, but also to the High Performance Camp. She brought many positive aspects to the Scorpions with her physical style of play, her mental toughness, her laid back personality and her coachability. She will continue to do that in the future.”

Vaughan McMillan, 17U Scorpions coach states– “Having been Amy’s coach for the past two seasons, her selection to the High Performance Camp is no surprise. Amy’s dedication and commitment to improving her skills has allowed her to elevate her game to the next level. This, along with her leadership abilities has made her a very skilled and valuable player both on and off the court. “

The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is pleased to announce the beginning of their Coaching recruitment campaign for the 2015 fall indoor season.

WireService.ca Press Release - 06/11/2015 - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. from Cambridge Ontario has over one thousand youth in their beach and indoor programs. It is estimated that the Scorpions Club will have approximately five hundred youth in their indoor programs in the fall.

The dramatic growth of the club has necessitated the need to recruit more coaches and volunteers for their:
  • Learn to Play Programs
  • House League Programs
  • Competitive Teams

Scorpions Volleyball player Emma Wylie, a 6’ outside hitter, has signed with the University of Windsor Lancers women's varsity volleyball team.

WireService.ca Press Release (06/10/2015) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is proud to announce the fifth player this season who have signed to play varsity volleyball at college or university in September 2015.

18U Scorpion player Emma Wylie, from Stratford, Ontario, has decided to attend the University of Windsor and accept a scholarship to play for the Windsor Lancers women's team.

Highlights from Emma’s past season include:

· Scorpions 18U Team - Division 2 Tier 3 Silver Provincial Medal

· Waterloo Collegiate WCSSAA - First Team All-Star

Lucas Hodgson, University of Windsor Women's Varsity Coach states, "We are excited to add Emma to our roster as she gives us more size on the outside and we think she could turn into something special at this level.”

Scorpions Volleyball player Kelsey Caza, a 6'2" middle blocker, has signed with the University of Waterloo women's varsity volleyball team.

WireService.ca Press Release (06/05/2015) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is proud to announce the fourth player this season who have signed to play varsity volleyball at college or university in September 2015.

18U Scorpion player Kelsey Caza, from Waterloo, Ontario, has decided to attend the University of Waterloo and accept a scholarship to play for the Waterloo Warrior women's team.

This past season Kelsey had a fantastic season. Highlights include:

  • Scorpions 18U Team - Division 2 Tier 3 Silver Provincial Medal
  • Resurrection Phoenix CWOSSA Champions.
  • Resurrection Phoenix District 8 Champions.
  • Kelsey was also named a District 8 First Team All-Star.
