![]() The Scorpions 17U girls competitive team travelled to Michigan to take part in the 2015 Great Lakes Festival (AAU) in Detroit and surrounding area. They returned home with a bronze medal losing only two sets all weekend. In preliminary play they beat Replay Adv 18U VC (25-9, 26-28, 15-8), Bronze Border 16U 2-0 (25-20, 25-18) and then Lion West 17U VC 2-0 (25-21, 25-14). On day two they won their opening match against Georgia East VC 2-0 (25-12, 25-14) They got a bye to the semis where they lost a tough three set battle to SuperNOVA 17RED VC 2-1 (17-25, 25-19, 15-13) They were awarded the bronze medal. Win the Gold and return to the Premier Division in Ontario Volleyball. Playing in the Championship Division the tournament was at Fanshawe College. In pool play the Scorpions defeated Forest City Blue 25-8, 22-25, 15-5, then beat the Kitchener Predators Purple 25-19, 28-26. In the quarter finals, the Scorpions beat the Niagara Rapids Black 27-17, 23-25, 15-13 In the semis the Scorpions defeated the Halton Hurricanes 15U Black in a tough three set battle 25-18, 20-25, 15-12. WireService.ca Press Release (03/03/2015) Cambridge, ON - The Ontario Volleyball Association has announced that the Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. of Cambridge, ON, qualified as an accredited volleyball club for 2015 by Volleyball Canada. Volleyball Canada is the national governing body for volleyball in Canada. The Volleyball Canada Club Accreditation Program recognizes and rewards the contributions exceptional clubs make to the development of volleyball in Canada. It is awarded annually to clubs who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in several areas including coach, athlete and volunteer development, accountable governance, gender balance, and club capacity, among other criteria. The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is the largest in the Waterloo Region and surrounding area. The club has grown dramatically in their short 4 year existence. In 2014, the club had over 1000 registrations in their beach and indoor programs. Their beach volleyball program is one of the largest in Canada. In Pool Play the Scorpions defeated LVC Fury 25-10, 25-10, Scorpions vs Brantford 13U 25-9, 26-23. In the quarter finals they defeated Predators Wild 25-10, 25-20.
In the semi finals they defeated Predators Altitude 25-5, 25-15. In the gold medal match they lost in three sets to LVC Ignite 25-23, 15-25, 6-15. In pool play they won both matches beating South County White (25-13, 25-16) and top ranked Mountain Valleyball Club (MVC) of Hamilton 15 Black (25-23, 25-18). In the quarter finals they beat MVC 14 Black (25-17,25-20). In a tough three set semi final battle they beat South County Black (20-25, 25-12, 25-20). Playing MVC 15 Black again in the gold medal finals they lost (14-25, 20-25) capturing the silver medal.
