The Scorpions Club are proud to announce that Lauren Matheson, Amanda Larsen and Rachael O'Dell have been selected to participate in the Ontario Volleyball Association Tall Maples Program.
The camp is tailored to athletes with above average physical attributes who show potential to contribute to the success of the Team Ontario programs in the future. It will be held July 15th- 21st, 2018 at Nipissing University, in North Bay, ON Last year they both played competitive volleyball for the Scorpions. Lauren played on our 14U Green team, Rachael played on our 15U Green team and Amanda played on our 15U Gold team. Congratulations to these girls and we wish the best of luck at this camp. ![]() The Scorpions Volleyball Club is very proud to announce that Renee Michiels will be the head coach of our Scorpions 15U Gold team for the 2018-19 fall/winter season. Lee Boyadian will he her assistant coach. Head Coach Renee is a former standout varsity player at the University of Windsor. She is one of the most dominant middle blockers to ever come out of this area. She has over 20 years of playing experience and is entering her second year coaching for the Scorpions Club. Assistant Coach Lee Boyadjian is entering her 4th year with the club and has proven herself to be one of the clubs most reliable and dedicated coaches. In cooperation with the City of Cambridge and Grass Volleyball Canada the Scorpions will be having a fun 4v4 youth volleyball tournament. They will fill a soccer field with portable volleyball net systems. It is open to boys and girls born 2008-2000. You can register as a team or as an individual and we will put into teams and play tournament style. You can play with friends. Starts at 9:00am. You can also register as an individual for $12.00 and we will put you on a team. For a team to register it is only $48.00 a team (you can have 4/5 players a team) (NOTE: Only one person registers for the team) There are House League & Competitive Divisions. Patrcia Sofroniuc has coached the same team last year and is also a volleyball coach in the school system. The Scorpions 14U White team plays in the Southwest Volleyball League and includes players of 13U age also. Tracy has been coaching competitive teams for the club for 6 yrs. She has coached girls and boys teams from 13U to 16U. Kayla had a breakout coaching season last year as an assistant coach for the 13U Scorpions team. Kayla is a former standout indoor club player and District 8 All-Star. She still plays competitive indoor and beach volleyball. Madison McKellar will be Kayla's assistant coach for the 13U team. Madison is a former club player who also played varsity volleyball for the Conestoga Condors. The drive and energy that she has as a player and coach will motivate and challenge the athletes she coaches. Tracy has over 15 years of playing and coaching experience. She has consistently coached the top performing teams for the Scorpions club. Philip has over 20 years coaching and playing experience in the sport of volleyball. He played for Sheridan College for three years and then went on to coach at West Side Volleyball Club (Rexdale, ON), as a head coach for U14 to U18, for approx. 5 seasons. He also coached college level volleyball for 5 seasons at Tyndale College in Toronto, ON. He has coached younger ages also.
