The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. has received an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant to help fund the renovation of  indoor volleyball systems and referee stands.

The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. is one of the largest and fastest growing youth indoor volleyball clubs in Canada.
This year the club is celebrating 12 yrs of providing youth indoor volleyball programs to the public.

The club has been a recipient of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help partially fund the renovation of volleyball standards, nets and referee stands to allow them to maximise their use of facilities and increase their enrollment for years to come.

Tracy Knudsen, Co-President of the Scorpions states, "Our heavy use of the volleyball standards and equipment happens because of our large youth registration.

We would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an Agency of the Government of Ontario, for funding the renovation of these volleyball systems. Investing in healthy activities for youth is paramount to the mandates of our club and the Trillium foundation."

Scorpions Volleyball Club Tryouts to Benefit Cambridge Food Bank

scorpions volleyball
Sept. 14, 2022…. For immediate release…..News Directors…. The Cambridge Youth Scorpions Volleyball Club is the largest non-profit indoor and beach volleyball club in the Waterloo Region.

The  Scorpions Club is holding their competitive team tryouts for up to 500 youth ranging from the ages of 10 to 18 starting Saturday September 17th, at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School in Cambridge (355 Holiday Inn Dr.). The tryouts begin at 9:00am and run all day ending at 9:15pm.

There is usually a cost to attend the tryouts but this year the Club wanted to see if we could help out the community while giving the athletes the opportunity to make a competitive team.

With that in mind we have been coordinating with the Cambridge Food Bank to collect non-perishable items and money. We’re challenging the athletes to raise over the equivalent of 312 lbs of food (which equates to $1000) for the Food Bank in the hopes that we can help give back to the community in this time of great need.

You do not have to attend the tryouts to donate to the Food Bank that day. You can just come to the gym and drop off your donation.

Mark Morell, Scorpions Food Bank Champion states, “ We felt it was important for the club to continue to highlight the focus that we are a community-based club and to give back to the community. We appreciate any help the media can give us on spreading the word about this event.”

To learn more about the Scorpions club visit their website at http://scorpionsvolleyball.ca or contact Mark Morell about the club's food bank event at info@scorpionsvolleyball.ca.
