The Scorpions youth volleyball club has accomplished another club record this past weekend. The team had 7 teams playing in Canada and the USA in three different cities. 5 of the teams came home with medals. Here is a summary of the historic weekend.
On Saturday our Scorpions 15U Select team captured a silver medal playing the London, Ontario at a Southwest Youth Volleyball Association Tournament. On Sunday two of our teams travelled to Victor New York to play in the Western Empire Volleyball Association tournament there. Our 12U and 15U Green teams captured Silver medals. In Canada we had 4 teams playing in the Ontario Volleyball Association provincial championships in Waterloo Ontario. Our 16U Gold team played hard all weekend but lost their match in the quarter finals. Our 16U Scorpions Synergy team proved while they are a force to be reckoned with in the province with a Division 1, Tier 1 Top 8 finish. Our 13Uboys captured the first medal of the day with Division 1 Tier 4 Bronze medal. They came back from a 7-0 deficient in the third set to win 18-16. Later that evening our Scorpions 15U girls captured a bronze medal playing in Division 1 Tier 2. Congratulations to all the Scorpions teams for a memorable weekend. No one can ever say the Scorpions 14U Boys team do not battle hard. At a recent Ontario Volleyball Association tournament at RIM Park in Waterloo the boys showed their grit on the court.
In pool play they lost two matches to London Sharks and MAC 13U in tough three set battles. 16-25,25-21,18-20 and 24-26,25-21, 17-19. With their backs against the walls the Scorpions dug deep defeating the Stratford Cobras 25-14 and 25-21. In the quarter final games against the Guelph Jrs. Black Team the Scorpions won in three sets. 25-23, 23-25 and 15-10. In the semi-finals they lost to MVC Maroon 25-20, 25-20. The Scorpions however still would not quit and in the bronze medal game they came back from a one set deficit to win a three set thriller against the Waterloo Tigers 19-25, 25-22, 15-11. The Scorpions 14U Boys Stingers Team players are: Oscar Kim,Ethan Pettitt,Kyle Astorino,Cameron Reid,Konrad Siedlec,Liam Schmidt,Lazar Jovic, Evan Kritz,Kaden Dicks,Jacob Purfurst and Logan Schofield.
