The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club has started registration for their giant summer beach program. Their youth beach volleyball program will he held three nights at the Shade's Mills Conservation Area in Cambridge and on Tuesdays at the North Dumfries Community Complex in Ayr, Ontario.
The adult co-ed recreational beach volleyball will be held on Wednesday nights at the North Dumfries Community Complex in Ayr, Ontario. The Scorpions youth competitive beach duos program has been announced. The club will be announcing soon, their grass and beach volleyball tournaments as well as their Commit to Beach Weekend. In the semi final Grabovsky/Kazhamiaka beat William Sanchez and Víctor Castillo of Dominican Republic-A 2-0 (21-14, 25-23). In the finals they lost a tough match to the USA team of Kolinske/Evans 2-0 (21-19, 21-15). Fiodar Kazhamiaka is the assistant coach for the Scorpions Volleyball Club 14U Green Indoor Girls Team as well as the Senior Competitive Beach Program Coach for the club. The Scorpions club is based out of Cambridge, Ontario. In 2014 they had 500 youth in their beach volleyball program. In 2016 they are anticipating a 20% growth in registration. The club has developed a short video promoting their beach volleyball program. The video includes a song "Lets Go Scorpions Beach" especially written for the club by Dale D'Amore of the Windsor/Detroit-based band Guitar Army. The full version of the song will be available on the club's website January 27, 2015. You can watch the video on our website. The Scorpions Beach Program, for boys and girls, will consist of: 1. House League & Learn to Play Beach Programs (for those born 1997-2006) - Registration starts January 7th, 2015. All players registered in our house league programs also receive registration into our June 20th Emerald Lake tournament and our giant June 30th Riverside Park tournament. 2. Summer Camps - The camps will be held on July 6th to 10th and July 13th to 17th. We are excited to announce big changes to our summer camps. Camp details and registration will begin February 1st, 2015. 3. Competitive Beach Duos Program - The Scorpions had 36 duos play on the Ontario Beach Volleyball Tour. We are excited to announce details of our expanded 2015 program on February 1st. 4.Scorpions Beach Tour 2015 - The club is finalizing details for their summer youth beach volleyball tour dates and locations. The club will be expanding the tour this year. The tournaments are for competitive duos run in June and July in different locations in Ontario including the club's home courts at Emerald Lake, Ontario. ![]() The OVA has announced that Scorpion's Coach Paul Podstawka has won the OVA Beach Tour Player of the Year award for 2014. The Player of the Year award is given to an adult division player who has accumulated the most OVA Beach Tour Adult Division points throughout the 2014 season in both the men's and women's categories. The player with the most accumulated points will receive $1000 in prize money. In 2013, Scorpions's coach Fiodar Kazhamiaka won the same award. Congrats to Paul on his Player of the Year Award. http://www.ontariovolleyball.org/programs/ova-beach-tour/beach-player-year ![]() Cambridge Times - CAMBRIDGE – Scorpions Competitive Beach Volleyball Club duo Kayla Gallant (left) and Jenna Benz won a gold medal recently at the Ontario Volleyball Association Region 3 qualifier for the Ontario Summer Games. The pair are the first competitive beach duo to represent the club at the Summer Games, which is in August in Windsor. The team plays in the under-15 division, but moved up to under-16 for qualifying and won 12 or the 13 sets they played, beating a Chatham team 15-12 in the tiebreaker in the final. |
