Cambridge Times - WATERLOO REGION – The under-15 Scorpions girls’ volleyball team won a silver medal in Division 2, tier 1 at the Ontario Volleyball Championships at RIM Park in Waterloo.

The Scorpions started on a winning note, beating all three teams – the Twin Bridges Thunder, Durham Region VC and ACT Elites – on the first day of competition.

The next day, the Scorpions faced stiff competition and started slow, losing to Ottawa Fusion 2-0 (20-25, 22-25).

In their second game, the girls showed they knew how to compete and destroyed Defensa VC 2-0 (25-15, 25-11), but lost their next match to Scarborough Invasion 2-0 (20-25, 17-25)

On the final day, it was win to continue or lose and leave.

The Scorpions started off by beating the Northumberland Breakers 2-1 (25-10, 23-25, 15-10) and then dropped the Ottawa Mavericks 2-1 (21-25, 25-17, 18-16) in the quarter-finals.

In the semifinals, the Scorpions defeated ACT Elites again 2-0 (25-20, 25-19) to move to the finals against Kaizen VC.

After a first set loss, the girls rallied to win the second set, but dropped the tiebreaker 15-13, finishing in second place.
