The 14U Scorpions VX girls team won a Bronze medal in the Championship Divison at a tournament in Milton.
They had a tough pool play losing to Georgetown Impact 23-25,14-25 and MVC Maroon 13-25,25-14,10-15. In pre-quarter match the Scorpions came to life defeating Peel Selects 25-14 and 25-18. In the quarter finals they beat Brant VC 25-22,24-26,13-15. In the semi finals they lost to Georgetown again 25-14 and 25-21. In the Bronze medal match the Scorpions VX played hard to beat the Niagara Rapids Summit team 25-19, 25-21. Team members are: Emma Murray-Brezynskie, Alanna Raymond, Laura Fitero, Elyse Hutchinson,Maxine Kirkwood, Jennifer Clarke, Emma Butler, Klare Purfurst and Lauren Matheson. Head Coach is Tracy Forshaw. Assistant Coach is Fiodar Kazhamiaka. The 14U Scorpions Gold girls team won a Bronze medal in the Trillium division in a tournament held in Kitchener. In pool play the Scorpions came our strong defeating London Forest City - 25-21,17-25,16-14 and Kitchener Predators 25-19, 25-11. In the quarter finals they beat London LVC in straight sets 25-19, 25-13. In the semi finals they lost a close game to London Sharks 22-25, 21-25. The Scorpions wanted to go home with a medal and they came up big in the Bronze medal game defeating Woodstock 25-20, 25-8. The 14U Gold team is: Rebecca Goodwin, Ryan Koeslag, Emily Koiter, Lauren Schubert, Emily Steinman, Maggie Stone, Montana lilly,Matticyn Rawn-Kane, Emma Shields, Alisha Benjamin, Leanne Cherry, and Maggie Hicknell. Head is Lee Boyadjian and assistant coach is Mel Leendertse.

WireService.ca Press Release (12/18/2017) Cambridge, ON… Scorpions Volleyball is pleased to provide the details of six of their former players who are now playing in college and university. The Scorpions club is the largest indoor and beach volleyball club in the Waterloo Region and surrounding area. They have fifteen competitive teams and approximately three hundred players in their upcoming winter league. Paul Langan, Founder of Scorpions Volleyball states, “These women continue to be fantastic role models both on and off the court. Some of the girls started with the club eight years ago. The 14U Scorpions Boys Stingers team won GOLD at an OVA tournament in Kitchener Ontario moving them up to the Premier Division. In pool play they beat Forest City Blue 25-16,25-27,15-9 and Windsor Sky Volley 25-15, 25-19.In the quarter finals they beat the Guelph Jr. Gryphons 22-25,25-13,15-9. In the semi finals they defeated the Kitchener Predators 25-22,25-22. In the Gold Medal finals they beat the Chatham Ballhawks in a barnburner 3 set match 24-26,25-22, 17-15. The 14U Boys are Logan Schofield,Wyatt Kraft, Konrad Siedlec, Izaak Zabjek, Dillon Tims, Liam Schmidt, Oscar Kim, Kalan Kok, Preston Priboj and William Ford. Head Coach Andrew Kim. Assistant Coaches Soren Seifi and Olivia Schofield. In the OVA tournament at Conestoga College in Kitchener the 13U Scorpions Girls team won GOLD. In pool play beat Oakvile -25-20, 25-19, lost to Milton 22-25,25-23,14-16. In quarter finals beat Brant - 25-12, 25-13. In semi-finals beat Oakville again 25-20 25-21. In the Gold medal match they defeated Waterloo Tigers 25-20,25-20. With the win the girls move up to the Championship Division. The team is Calinda Kok, Sierra Philippi, Avery Astorino, Stella Miller, Lauren Vanmanen, Crimson Biafore, Maya MacMillan, Charlotte Spencer, Viktoria Josifova, Naiomi Tasker. Head Coach Ruby Ann McMillan. Assistant Coach Kayla Gaudette. In the OVA tournament in Windsor the 15U Scorpions Venom Girls team won a BRONZE medal in the Championship Division. In pool play vs Waterdown Raiders they lost 15-25 and 14-25. They also lost to the South County Bandits Teal 12-25, 15-25. In the quarter finals they defeated Scorpions Green 25-23 and 25-22. In the semi finals they lost to the Chatham Ballhawks Blue 14-25, 25-18,14-16. They beat Forest City Blue to win the BRONZE medal. 25-19, 23-25, 15-12. The team is Ella Woolcott, Sam Ritchie, Paige Owen, Dilyn Harvey, Miska Cerny, Amanda Larsen, Jessica Dirkse, Emma Sexton and Emma Rutherford. Head Coach is Andrew Aitken.
