Scorpions Never Lose A Set All Day!The Scorpions 15U Synergy travelled to West Niagara New York for a volleyball tournament and came home with another Gold Medal performance.
They never lost a set all day beating in succession. Niagara Frontier 16s Black,Xtreme Wildfire, SWAT 16's,Niagara County Volleyball Club,Niagara Rapids 16 Blue. In the final gold medal game they beat Buffalo Volleyball Academy 16U again in straight sets. 14U Boys, 15U and 17U Girls Win GOLD! The Scorpions hosted a 14U/13U Boys tournament in Cambridge. Both the Scorpions 13U and 14u boys team were in it. In the final match the two 1st place teams of each division played each other. The Scorpions 14U boys team won Gold defeating Leamington Velocity VC.
The Scorpions 15U Girls Synergy team played up in a 16U Ontario Volleyball Association tournament in Kitchener Ontario. In pool play the defeated the Guelph Grizzlies 16U and Niagara Rapids 16U. In the quarter finals they defeated the Waterdown Raider 15U. In the semi finals they disposed of the Niagara Rapids 15U Blue team. In the finals they defeated Niagara Rapids 15U black team in straight sets capturing a Gold Medal. The Scorpions 17U Girls Venom team played up in a 18U Ontario Volleyball Association tournament in Simcoe Ontario. In pool play they disposed of Georgetown Impact 25-11 and Waterloo Tigers Red 17U 23-25, 25-13, 15-11. In the quarter finals they beat Waterloo Tigers Black 25-18 and 25-16. In the semi finals they beat the Hamilton Smash in three sets 16-25, 28-26, 15-10 . In the final game they beat the Kitchener Predators 25-21, 23-25 and 15-13 to claim the Gold medal. Scorpions 15U Team Make History - A City of Cambridge First! The Scorpions 15U Synergy team set a club record and also a first for the City of Cambridge.
The team travelled to Kitchener to play in the Ontario Volleyball Association tournament there. In pool play they disposed of South County Teal in 2 straight sets. They then beat the Kitchener Predators 2 sets to 1. In the quarters final they defeated London Forest City Oaks 2 sets to 1. In the semi finals they defeated beat London LVC Fire in straight sets. They captured GOLD in the Premier Division by defeating the Niagara Rapids also in straight sets. This is the first time in the history of youth competitive volleyball in the City of Cambridge that a team has placed first in the Premier division (the highest division) of Ontario Volleyball Association tournaments. They did what no other Scorpions team could do before them by capturing a bronze medal in the highest division in youth volleyball in Ontario. In pool play they lost a close one in 3 sets against London Forest City Oaks L 23-25,W 25-14,L 13-15. they rebounded to beat Hamilton in a gritty three set battle.L 23-25,W 25-17,W 15-12 It did not get any easier, as in the quarter finals, the Scorpions needed three sets to defeat London LVC Intensity W 25-10, L 21-25, W 15-12. In the semi finals the Scorpions lost a tough match in three sets to Halton Hurricanes W 26-24,L 16-25, L 9-15. It set up the Bronze Medal showdown match against the same London Forest City Oaks team that had beaten the Scorpions team earlier. The Scorpions got their revenge and beat London in straight sets 25-16 and 29-27. After a hard fought three days the Scorpions returned home with a Division 2 Tier 3 Silver Medal. On Sunday they started off beating Durham Regions VC in three sets. 25 -15, 22-25, 15-2. They then lost to Mavericks VC of Manitoba 19-25 , 14-25. The third match on Sunday they defeated Big Bear VC of Manitoba 25-15, 26-24. On Monday, the Scorpions defeated Nooks VC of Alberta 25-20, 25-9, Element Panthers of Saskatchewan 25-19, 25-13. Before losing a close one in three sets to SISU Manitoba17-25, 25-19, 11-15 The first match Tuesday was the stay or go home quarter final against Elite VC of Alberta. The Scorpions defeated them in straight sets, 25-16. 25-19. In the semi final the Scorpions defeated the Rustlers VC of Saskatchewan 25-16, 25-18. Coach Funk describes the addition of Lexi as "a big asset to the squad for years to come." Lexi on why she chose Guelph. "I decided to attend the University of Guelph because of the school's great reputation for excellence in academics, sports and student life. I look forward to joining the volleyball program at Guelph and to help contribute to its success."Lexi will be enrolled in the Human Nutrition program at Guelph in the Fall.
