![]() Cambridge Times QUEBEC – The Scorpions under-14 girls’ volleyball team recently finished sixth at Volleyball Canada’s national championships in Sherbrooke, Que. The Scorpions ended the tournament with a 6-1 record in Division 1, Tier 1, with their only loss coming in the quarter-finals to end their run. On the first day, the Scorpions beat the Herring Cove Gaels of Nova Scotia 2-0 (25-8, 25-6), Maverick Gold Diggers of Ottawa 2-1 (20-25, 25-19, 15-9) and the Quebec provincial champion Academie Les Estacades 2-1 (25-19, 20-25, 17-15). On day two, the Scorpions continued to roll, beating the Northern Chill of Sudbury 2-1 (8-25, 25-11, 15-10), Outtahand of Markham 2-0 (25-19, 25-22) and Extreme Bleu of New Brunswick 2-1 (16-25, 27-25, 15-11). On day three, the Scorpions perfect record had their only blemish, coming at the wrong time, with a 2-0 (19-25, 15-25) loss to the South County Bandits of Essex.
